Experts from research and industry will discuss innovations in seasonal storage and its economic integration into district heating systems. The event will feature representatives from RHC-ETIP’s Technology Panel on District Heating & Cooling & Thermal Storage. Four EU-funded projects pioneering TES for decarbonisation will be also highlighted: TREASURE, USES4HEAT, THUNDER and INTERSTORES 

The event, organised within the framework of the GeoCluster by the GEOSYN project, brought together 10 projects, featured 12 insightful presentations, and welcomed over 100 participants.

The GEOSYN project organised the 2nd Joint Mobilization and Mutual Learning (MML) online workshop, “Accelerating Geothermal and Thermal Energy Storage Deployment in Europe: Policy, Regulation and Market Readiness”, as part of the Geo-Cluster initiative. Experts and project representatives discussed what is needed to speed up geothermal heating and cooling and thermal energy storage across Europe. Topics included raising awareness among industry, community engagement, policy incentives, market and financial conditions, and replicating underground thermal energy storage (UTES) solutions. The workshop gave practical insights into investment pathways, market readiness, successful approaches and the barriers that remain in different European contexts.
